Triplet Picnic

Sunday was the Austin Triplets picnic in Zilker park. I've made a lot of new friends through this multiples group. Another great thing about being part of this group is that there are several moms with older triplets. What a great resource that is. It really lets you see what is coming up in the future.

Two of my new friends have triplet toddler girls. I've been so impressed by them both, they make it look so easy. Feeding, sleeping, playing, all on a schedule, happy healthy girls. Lately things have gotten a bit more challenging, their kids are just getting to that mid two range where they are exploring their idependence. They are both super moms, so seeing them struggle with their toddlers is a bit intimidating. Man if they are having trouble, we are really in for it.

The babies had their first train ride on the Zilker kiddie train. Evan was the most enthusastic about the experience, laughing and having a great time. Will was looking around in a bit of awe, soaking it all in, while Lily chewed on her shoe most of the time. David, Grandma G and I enjoyed sharing the ride and views of the park and river with the babies. We all had a great day, but looking back at the photos I was a mess - no makeup, hair falling out of my ponytail, shirt that didn't fit well. I've got to remember that in addition to making sure everyone is fed, diapered, clothed and packed I should take a moment to check myself :)

Evan has another tooth!

It is amazing what you get excited by as a new parent. Evan got his second tooth today. I noticed while we were visiting Dr. Denise for his eye exam. Btw - he checked out ok - she was not too concerned by the occasional eye turn but gave us some patches to use for an hour a day to strengthen that eye. He will likely grow out of it as he develops.

Other exciting news, just this past week everyone has been getting up on their hands and knees and rocking, big development for us. Lily is scooting a bit using her arms, comando style and intrigued by the basket of books, trying to pull herself up to grab one. It will not be long before we have mobile babies. Time to put up play gates and to finish our safety proofing.

Speaking of safety. I also had our new convertable car seats installed today since they have outgrown their infant car seats. We had to take up the third row of the Expedition and only have a foot of trunk space. How will we pack up a stroller? Stay tuned...

The babies are getting more interested in each other and their toys. They usually want what everyone else has. Here is Evan trying to steal Lily's bottle - gimme!

Here is 'Memo' playing with his feet. They all like to chew on their toes or shoes, babies are good yogies. That's my baby blanket he just rolled off of :)

Baptism

Will, Evan and Lily were baptisted today. It was a day to remember, surrounded by close friends and family. I was surprised how moved I felt having those who I love dearly with us to celebrate the blessing of our children's lives and their invitation to a spiritual life. I had a warm feeling in my heart to know they will be loved and influenced by these valued people. The ceremony was brief but potent. Festivities followed at our home. The weather could not have been better, it was a gorgeous day to hang out, drink wine, enjoy some good food and even better company. See baptism photo album here.

Happy Easter

We had a chilly cozy Easter, with record low temps and hail/snow flurries. It was a nice weekend to hang out with family indoors by the fireplace. The Easter bunny was good to the babies, bringing lots of toys and a bunny cake.

Other exciting news...Evan got his first tooth (his lower left) and the first for the gang.

First Word 'DaDa'

Just when I started to wonder when the babies would start babbling again, Evan kicked in it full gear. The last few days he starting babbling, strings of sounds including Blah Blah Blahs and a few Was and Das among others.

But today was the first day that Evan repeated said DaDa over and over. He doesn't know what he is saying but he loves to say it! And thinks it is endlessly funny when we repeat it.
