Sneak Peak

A few photos of the house progress...

Looking from the dining into the kitchen.

The island bracket Armando designed and built for us.

Dining room french doors.

Kitchen cabinets, the uppers still need to be installed.

More kitchen cabinetry under the stairs. Our cabinet maker designed several pull out shelves and drawers to make use of every inch of space, even a couple 3" deep shelves to utilize the wall space. When finished it will look like a full wall of cabinetry.

New french doors in master.

Starting to tile in children's bath.

Exterior paint is looking better now that the windows are cleaned.

I promise to post some kid pictures Friday after their haircuts, the first for Lily!

So exciting! I love the bracket Armando designed. So now it's begining to look like a real kitchen. The cabinets are pretty, and sophisticated!

I love the pictures and can't wait to see everything when it is finished. Again, I absolutely love the stone on your house.

It looks great, but you may want to reconsider the paint on the dormer. The lighter color looks funny just on the sides and bottom. I would consider painting the dark color all around and then using the lighter color as an accent -- maybe on the trim around the windows.

anon, i know...somethings wrong. not sure how to remedy.

i'm considering your suggestion but see two problems:

1) the whole back and sides are painted tan siding, dark trim. would it be weird to reverse for the front? can't repaint whole house.

2) the windows on first floor have dark trim. actually think that part looks good. and think we should be consistent above.

still...you are right, something is awry.

On the dormer, I can see what you mean about wanting the brown around the windows to match the lower ones. That makes sense, but I wonder (hard to tell from the photo) if there is a way to bring the lighter color up the sides and across the top? Maybe have the whole thing the lighter color with the exception of the darker color around the window frames? You could almost get away with having the whole dormer painted the darker color, but that may be too heavy handed. At any rate, I hope you didn't think I was being critical! I love your house and your design ideas, and the fact that you're able to pull that off and raise 4 small kids makes my head spin -- pretty amazing!

anon - thanks, we may try that.

And no I didn't feel like you were being critical at all. I need help. I'm remodeling, I'm raising four kids...my head is spinning :)
